Pula, Croatia
Zdravo! From Pula, Croatia.
Croatia was not on our initial list of places we wanted to travel to. However, after being told many times over that it is a hidden gem when the borders opened back up, we booked a weekend getaway.
We did something a little bit different for this trip and booked a stay at a campground. Some of our kids were a little apprehensive, but I think this turned out to be one of our favorite trips yet. The "tent" we booked was more like a cabin and came with beds, a bathroom, and air conditioning. It wasn't roughing it by a long shot!
We had a private beach steps from our tent. The kids spent a lot of time skipping rocks and exploring the Adriatic Sea. We had several educational connections on this trip, our geography connection was being able to swim in the Adriatic Sea-- one of the bodies of water we've learned to identify over the last two years.
We rented a paddleboat while there and the older three kids were also able to take private windsurfing lessons. The lessons were given by some of the top windsurfers in Croatia! All three were able to get up and stay up on the water and had a blast.
Enough of my ramblings, though. I'll let you see Pula through their eyes.

What was one thing you learned? Pula has one of 4 remaining Roman amphitheaters in the world. It is the only one that is still fully intact, though, making it different from the other three.
What was your favorite thing to eat? The gelato in Pula was really good!
What did you enjoy the most? Windsurfing!

What was one thing you learned? I learned how to windsurf when we were in Croatia. I also learned that Croatia is very close to Italy so a lot of their food choices were very similar to what we had when we were in Milan.
What was your favorite thing to eat? Gluten-free pizza! It was a lot like Italy's.
What did you enjoy the most? Windsurfing and swimming.
Lincoln (Age: 7)
What was one thing that you learned? That the Adriatic Sea is very cold!
What was your favorite thing to eat? Gelato and pizza.
What did you enjoy the most? Windsurfing and the paddleboard with the slide!
Mollie (Age: 5)
What was one thing you learned: Jellyfish in Croatia don't sting. We were able to look for and swim with the jellyfish and not worry about getting hurt.
What was your favorite thing to eat? Gelato!
What did you enjoy the most? Swimming in the hot tub at the campground.
Croatia may rank in the top 3 trips we've taken as a family. We didn't have much planned, which left a lot of time to explore and relax as a family. We are so glad we added it to our travel bucket list!
Oprostaj, Croatia!
