Paris, France

Bonjour!  From Paris, France.

Isn't Paris a bucket list item for most who travel Europe?  And it was just as magical for us!  We drove in after a quick stop in Riquewihr and immediately got started.  We spent most of our first day at and around the Eiffel tower.  I'll let the kids tell you all about it!

Logan (Age 12)

Favorite thing I did in Paris:  There were several things I enjoyed.  My two favorites were seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle and shopping for pointe shoes.  I was in the store with a few dancers from the Paris Ballet!

Favorite food: The soft-serve ice cream we had by the Eiffel Tower.

One thing I learned: The Paris Opera Ballet is the oldest national ballet company and many European ballet companies can trace their origins back to it.

Brody (Age 10)

Favorite thing I did in Paris: Seeing the Eiffel Tower light up at night.

Favorite food: gluten-free pizza!

One thing I learned: The French really love soccer!  We were in Paris during the PSG/Switzerland match and the whole city seemed to shut down during the game.  You could hear loud cheers and then silence when they eventually lost the game.  Also, the Statue of Liberty came from France and there are replicas in Paris.

Lincoln (Age 7)

Favorite thing I did in Paris: Watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle and stay up late.

Favorite food: I liked the cotton candy and the macaroons.

One thing I learned: There was a king (mom note: Louis XIV) who said he was the sun and his court and country circled around him like planets.  Also, the public toilets lock and clean themselves in between visitors.

Mollie (Age 5)

Favorite thing I did in Paris: Danced around the Eiffel Tower and watched it sparkle (this one was pretty unanimous, it seems)

Favorite food: Cotton candy!!

Is there anything better than cotton candy as big as your head in front of the Eiffel Tower?

One thing I learned: People love to sit in the park and look at the tower.  Mom note: we spent a good bit of time hanging out in Champ de Mars, a grassy area near the tower.  The little ones loved running around the grounds and people watching.  Many people claimed a spot on the grass to watch the tower light up (at 10pm) close to 6pm!

Sadly, the Louvre was closed on our only full day in Paris, thus, we missed seeing the Mona Lisa.  But, we still made our way over, hung out in the courtyard to hang out and see the famous glass pyramid.  We were amazed at how empty the whole city was because of COVID.  What an amazing time to be able to tour Europe without crowds.

Au Reviour, Paris!
